Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa as the Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA).
The appointment takes immediate effect.
Dr. Ogunmuyiwa received his letter of appointment on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the Office of the Head of Service, Alausa, Ikeja. The letter was presented by the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro.
A career education administrator, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa brings over 25 years of experience in school evaluation, planning, quality assurance, and education management within the Lagos State public service. His appointment marks a significant career milestone, having risen through the ranks of the same agency he now leads.
He holds a PhD in Educational Administration and Planning from the University of Abuja, two Master’s degrees in Educational Administration and Guidance and Counselling, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Lagos.
Before his appointment, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa served as Director of Private Education and Special Programmes at OEQA, where he supervised school accreditation, quality monitoring, and improvement programmes. He has also previously worked as Head of Planning and Head of Education Quality Assurance Services.
Widely regarded as a dedicated and result-oriented officer, he has won multiple awards, including repeated recognition as Best Staff of OEQA between 2012 and 2022.
Beyond administration, Dr. Ogunmuyiwa is known for his commitment to teacher development, mentoring young professionals, and supporting school improvement initiatives across communities in the state.
Congratulating him, Mr. Agoro expressed confidence in his capacity to deliver. He said the new Director-General’s experience and deep understanding of the education system would help strengthen quality assurance and sustain Lagos State’s leadership in education.
Dr. Ogunmuyiwa is expected to build on existing reforms aimed at improving standards and accountability across public and private schools in the state.
