A member of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC), Lt. Gen. Engineer Ibrahim Jabir, has paid tribute to the pioneering generation of professors and students of the University of Khartoum, describing their contributions as foundational to Sudan’s national consciousness and professional development.
Jabir made the remarks while attending Independence Day celebrations at the university’s College of Education in Omdurman, where he also welcomed newly admitted students from the 2023–2024 academic batches and oversaw first-year enrolment activities.
Accompanied by the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emad Al-Din Al-Tahir Ardeib, the TSC member praised the historic role of the University of Khartoum in shaping Sudan’s political awareness, national movement, and global professional footprint.
Call for Resilience and Innovation
Addressing students, Jabir commended their resilience amid the country’s ongoing challenges and urged them to pursue academic excellence while embracing modern technologies. He encouraged active participation in cultural, sporting, and extracurricular activities as part of holistic development.
He noted that Sudan’s future depends heavily on an educated generation capable of combining intellectual rigour with innovation, national responsibility, and social engagement.
University Reaffirms Commitment to Students
In his remarks, Prof. Ardeib welcomed the new students and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing a supportive and inclusive academic environment. He emphasised the importance of creativity, ethical values, dialogue, and skills development in nurturing responsible citizens and future leaders.
The Vice-Chancellor also encouraged students to engage fully in campus life beyond the classroom, highlighting the role of extracurricular activities in personal growth and nation-building.
The event formed part of Sudan’s broader Independence Day commemorations, reflecting the enduring role of higher education institutions in shaping the country’s identity and aspirations.
