The management of Tai Solarin Federal University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, has dismissed social media claims that the school was shut down due to a bandit invasion.
In a statement on Saturday, the Registrar, Dapo Oke, described the report as fake news created to cause fear within the campus and the state. He stressed that the university never ordered a closure and that academic activities are running as normal.
Oke urged students, staff, parents, and the public to ignore the false report, insisting that Ijebu Ode and Ijagun remain peaceful. He added that the welfare and safety of students remain the school’s top priority and advised everyone to rely only on official communication channels.
The clarification comes at a time when the Federal Government ordered the temporary closure of 41 Federal Unity Colleges due to rising insecurity and recent abductions. Several state governments—including Taraba, Kebbi, Kwara, and Plateau—have also shut down schools following fresh bandit attacks.
TAFSUED, however, maintains that its campus is safe and fully open.
