Teachers’ personal and professional development is key to releasing their best at their place of work and improving the educational institutions. A school committed to developing their teachers will also be fully developed and resourceful. Also in becoming their true potentials personal development should take the first place which encompasses the teacher being able to increase in capacity, have core values that propel change.
Being able to become the best version of themselves on the other hand is also important.
The professional development ensures fine tuning your skills to meet the demand of the school for positive outcome and achieve satisfaction in service provided.
It enables teachers to develop and give their best. The more they grow in capacity the more their impact. In developing, they are able to release the potential of the students. When it comes to personal and professional development both ways are necessary and should be approached as both sides of the coin.
Some teachers may have been in a teaching position or teaching occupation for a very long time yet possess little or no personal improvement in the manner at which they conduct their role. Teaching involves human relations, public relations and majorly communications. It cuts across personal and professional and at the centre is human involvement.
Humans relations—- Communications —- Public relations
Teachers developing their competence both personally or in a professional manner brings about a robust service that complement both personal and professional development. A professional teacher understands the school environment, knows how to go about their students, some know how to handle the parents and also how to relate with their colleagues, and school leaders. Others may struggle to meet up with their personal development and cause problems due to their attitude, lack of core values, and character flaws. These personal omissions can affect work relations and teamwork.
In some instances, the teacher can be up to their task personally but inadequate in their professional expectation. Certain exposure, training, circles, networks can solve such inadequacy. Some even go back to school to advance their career. The ability to learn can close this gap.
What happens to personal incompetent? Personal development in this context is key because people think personal development is only a personal issue so they neglect that aspect and assume the person can handle it. Unfortunately, most times they don’t handle it because, some are yet to take responsibility and this could cause a delay in promotion.
Personal and professional development is key to students and school transformation.
Celebrate Teachers who strive to develop both their personal and professional state.
