As Nigerian schools resume for the 2025/2026 academic session, popular singer Timi Dakolo has announced plans to support parents struggling to pay their children’s school fees.
Taking to his official X handle on Wednesday, Dakolo acknowledged the financial pressures families face at the start of every term.
“I know it’s school fee season, it’s not always easy, I know this first-hand. So, let me help lessen that burden a little bit,” he wrote.
The artist directed parents and guardians to send their children’s school bills via Instagram to @TheOyindaOlu, assuring that receipts of direct payments made to schools would be sent back as proof of support.
This gesture comes at a time when the rising cost of education has placed enormous strain on households across the country. With tuition, levies, uniforms, and textbooks climbing to record highs, many families are being forced into difficult financial decisions just to keep their children in school.
Dakolo, widely known for his family-oriented music and advocacy, has in the past used his platform to address issues affecting education and community welfare. His latest move adds him to the growing list of public figures stepping in to provide direct relief to parents facing economic challenges.
Education stakeholders have continued to stress that while such interventions provide immediate relief, sustainable solutions are urgently needed to make education more affordable and accessible to all Nigerian children.
