The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has officially welcomed 450 new students into its Sandwich Programme for the 2024/2025 academic session.
The matriculation ceremony took place on Friday, September 12, 2025, at the Faculty of Education Auditorium, with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research), Professor Bola Oboh, representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS.
In her address, Professor Oboh encouraged the new students to embrace their admission as a call to responsibility and personal development. She emphasized the importance of acquiring knowledge, developing character, and learning practical skills that would make them valuable contributors in their chosen fields.
She also assured the students of the support of faculty members and the availability of a conducive learning environment. Professor Oboh urged them to take full advantage of the university’s resources, especially digital and innovation platforms, to equip themselves with market-relevant skills suited for the modern workforce.
A key highlight of the event was the formal administration of the Matriculation Oath. The oath was administered by the University Registrar, Mrs. Victoria Wickliffe, after the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Simeon Oladipo, presented the students to university management.
The newly admitted students were enrolled into the following departments under the Sandwich Programme: Adult Education, Arts Education, Educational Foundations, Educational Management, Human Kinetics and Health Education, Science Education, Social Sciences Education, and Technology and Vocational Education.
