The University of Lagos (UNILAG), in partnership with global education non-profit Professors Without Borders (PROWIBO), successfully concluded a dynamic 5-day training programme aimed at fostering digital transformation across the academic ecosystem.
Themed “Empowering Digital Transformation: Leadership, Innovation & Sustainability,” the bootcamp held from Monday, July 21 to Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Faculty of Law, brought together global facilitators, thought leaders, academic staff, non-teaching staff, and students for an intensive week of learning and reorientation.
Opening with Purpose
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Blessing Anyikwa, the PROWIBO Coordinator at UNILAG and event anchor, described the initiative as a timely intervention. Representing the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services), Professor Afolabi Lesi, she emphasized the urgency of aligning Nigeria’s academic institutions with the demands of a tech-driven global economy.
“Digital transformation is no longer a luxury — it’s a necessity for national development,” Prof. Anyikwa noted. She praised PROWIBO’s commitment to expanding global access to quality education and urged participants to see the programme as an innovation and sustainability trigger in academic practice.
