According to information released by the institution, UNILAG also secured the 1,291st position globally, highlighting its growing influence in academic research, digital visibility, and knowledge dissemination on the world stage.
The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities, published twice annually by the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), assesses universities based on their web presence, research impact, visibility of scholarly outputs, and openness of institutional repositories.
The ranking is widely regarded as a measure of how effectively universities leverage digital platforms to promote research, innovation, and academic excellence.
Reacting to the development, the university described the achievement as a reflection of its commitment to quality education, impactful research, and global competitiveness.
The latest ranking further strengthens UNILAG’s reputation as one of Nigeria’s foremost universities, reinforcing its standing as the “University of First Choice and the Nation’s Pride.”
The institution noted that the recognition underscores the collective efforts of its management, academic staff, researchers, students, and alumni in advancing scholarship and enhancing the university’s global visibility.
UNILAG has consistently featured among the top-ranked universities in Nigeria and Africa, with recent rankings reflecting its sustained investment in research, innovation, digital infrastructure, and international collaborations.
