The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has declared the University’s commitment to hands-on agricultural training as he personally led participants of the WAFROEX–FUNAAB Beekeeping Training 2.0 through a comprehensive field practical session on youth beekeeping enterprise development and innovation.
Prof. Kehinde, who supervised the live demonstration, guided trainees through hive inspection, colony handling, brood and queen identification, as well as the evaluation of colony health, skills he described as essential for building a sustainable and commercially viable beekeeping enterprise.
The Vice-Chancellor was joined by the Founder/CEO of WAFROEX/GOLDSWARM LLC, Mr. Omar Lababidi; the General Manager, Alhaji Abdulrahman Shomala; the WAFROEX–FUNAAB Project Manager, Mr. Abubakri Shomala; and the Strategy and Regional Coordinator, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bello.
Also at the session were the WAFROEX Team Lead, Mr. Abdulhakeem Alabi; the alternate Chairperson of the Employability and Benchmarking Committee and Dean, COLBIOS, Prof. Iyabode Kehinde; HoD, PPCP, Prof. Thomas Fabunmi; HoD, AGAD, Prof. Adefunke Ayinde; Training Facilitators, Mr. David Musa and Mr. Christian; as well as Mr. Joel Momoh of the WAFROEX–FUNAAB Team.
Meanwhile, over 200 students were trained during the 2-Day event.
