Vice President Dr. Constantino Chiwenga has praised President Emmerson Mnangagwa for driving transformative education reforms that are reshaping Zimbabwe’s academic landscape and inspiring progress across Africa.
Speaking at the 3rd Africa Education Summit held last Friday in Victoria Falls, Chiwenga described the event as more than a gathering of stakeholders—calling it a celebration of Africa’s shared commitment to using education as a key driver of development.
He lauded President Mnangagwa’s focus on human capital development, crediting it as central to Zimbabwe’s and the SADC region’s educational achievements.
“President Mnangagwa’s visionary leadership has taken our education beyond the classroom,” said Chiwenga, citing the adoption of Education 5.0 and a heritage-based model. “These reforms prioritize innovation, entrepreneurship, practical skills, and cultural identity.”
The Vice President highlighted government investment in infrastructure, teacher training, and curriculum development under the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), aimed at preparing a future-ready education system.
“Through the renovation and construction of schools, the President is ensuring that students learn in safe, well-equipped environments,” he added.
The summit brought together policymakers, educators, and stakeholders across the continent to explore sustainable education models for Africa’s future.
