Following productive engagements in Mutare District, the Ministry of Primary & Secondary Education, Zimbabwe and its partners have continued the Think Equal Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) impact and learning visit in Nyanga District, aimed at deepening understanding of implementation, impact and sustainability with a view to possible scale-up to other provinces.
The delegation, including Mr Richard King of Think Equal, proceeded to Kute St. Peters Primary School, where they observed an #SEL lesson in session and witnessed how Social and Emotional Learning has been seamlessly embedded into classroom practice under the Heritage-Based Curriculum (HBC), enabling learners to develop empathy, self-awareness and positive behaviour alongside academic learning.
Later in the day, the team visited Nyamhuka Primary School, where they sat in on a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) session. The school has successfully adopted SEL into its daily routines, beginning each day with an emotional check-in using the Mood Meter, ensuring that both learners and teachers start the day supported and ready to learn.
The Think Equal #SEL programme is being implemented with support from Think Equal, #edt and REPSSI, and continues to strengthen learner wellbeing, inclusion and holistic development across Zimbabwean schools.
