Abuja, Nigeria – In a bid to enhance the nation’s education sector, Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, hosted members of the House of Representatives Committee on Education at a high-level meeting in Abuja.
The delegation included the Chairmen of Non-Formal Education, Basic Education, and the Technical Education Examination Board, along with representatives from Student Loan Services, TETFund, and University Education.
The meeting featured in-depth discussions on strategies to improve and strengthen Nigeria’s education system. Key areas of focus included aligning educational curricula with labour market needs, delivering quality education, and enhancing the nation’s human capacity index to support a rapidly growing population.
“Our goal is to create better opportunities for Nigerians by providing quality education that is relevant to the demands of the 21st-century workforce,” said Dr. Alausa.
“This requires a concerted effort to reform our curricula, build capacity, and ensure that no Nigerian is left behind in the journey towards a brighter future.”
Discussions also addressed preparations for the upcoming 2025 budget presentation at the House of Representatives, with a shared commitment to ensuring a seamless approval process.
Dr. Alausa emphasised the importance of collaboration in achieving these goals. “Education is the bedrock of development. By working together, we can transform the sector and unlock the potential of our youth, thereby driving national progress,” he stated.
