The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has flagged off the 2025 edition of its Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Business Incubation Certification (EIBIC) programme with a 5-day seminar aimed at empowering newly admitted students with vital entrepreneurial skills and a future-ready mindset.
The seminar, which commenced on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the Jelili Omotola Multipurpose Hall, is mandatory for all 100-level and Direct Entry students across faculties, including the Distance Learning Institute (DLI). The opening day featured students from the Faculty of Science.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola (OON, FAS), the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Muyiwa Falaiye, emphasized the institution’s commitment to preparing students for the rapidly evolving world of work. He noted that the university is leveraging partnerships with incubators and accelerators to provide mentorship, funding, and startup resources.
Professor Sunday Adebisi, Director of the university’s Entrepreneurship and Skills Development Centre (ESDC), described the EIBIC programme as more than just a certification exercise. According to him, it is a transformative initiative designed to harness students’ passions, talents, and academic backgrounds to groom them into business owners and job creators, even before graduation.
Highlighting the achievements of past student-preneurs from UNILAG, Professor Adebisi stressed that the programme prepares students for life beyond academics, equipping them with the skills to thrive and innovate in competitive business environments.
The EIBIC 2025 seminar will run through Tuesday, July 1, 2025, with each day dedicated to specific faculties:

Entrepreneurial skills development to empower students to start and manage businesses;
Innovation and incubation access, including mentorship and funding;

Dual certification, as students receive an EIBIC certificate alongside their degree.
