Babcock University’s Centre for Open and Distance e-Learning (ODLC) held its maiden Graduation Summit, marking a historic moment for the institution and its distance learning program.
The event celebrated the academic achievements of 42 pioneering graduates—12 of whom earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA), while 30 were awarded Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting. The summit served as both a convocation and a strategic dialogue on the role of distance education in advancing accessible, flexible, and quality learning in Nigeria.
The highlight of the summit was the recognition of excellence, as 14 students from the B.Sc. Accounting cohort graduated with first-class honours. The management of Babcock University commended the outstanding performance of the students and applauded the dedication and resilience it took to complete their programs through virtual learning platforms. University officials emphasized that the ODLC graduates demonstrated high academic standards comparable to their on-campus counterparts, further proving the efficacy of the distance learning model.
In his remarks, the Director of the ODLC, alongside senior university executives, praised the faculty, administrators, and graduates for their commitment to innovation in education. The summit featured keynote addresses, testimonials from graduates, and conversations on improving digital learning experiences. Stakeholders described the event as a pivotal milestone in Babcock’s journey toward expanding its global educational reach through online and blended learning modalities.
