It encoded discovery, preserved memory, and transmitted power across generations. Every scientific breakthrough, every mathematical theorem, every technological revolution has depended not only on intellect but on vocabulary. What cannot be named cannot be easily taught. What cannot be taught cannot be widely owned. This is the quiet revolution that Dr. Taofeeq Adebayo understands. His work to develop Yoruba vocabulary for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is not merely linguistic innovation. It is civilizational work. He recognizes that language is not just a cultural artifact. It is infrastructure, social technology and a tool of access.

These societies understood a simple truth. To own the future, you must build it in your own language. Yoruba, spoken by tens of millions across Nigeria and the diaspora, possesses extraordinary expressive power. It is precise, tonal, layered, and philosophical. It contains concepts that English struggles to capture. But like any language, it must evolve to remain relevant in the age of artificial intelligence, quantum computing, biotechnology, and space exploration.
This is where Dr. Adebayo’s work becomes transformative. By creating STEM vocabulary in Yoruba, he is expanding the cognitive territory of the language.
