The Anambra State Government has announced plans to build 30 new primary schools across communities that currently lack public schools.
The decision was made during the 22nd State Executive Council meeting held on Wednesday at the “Light House,” Awka, following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s landslide re-election on November 8, 2025.
In a statement on Thursday, the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, said the new schools will expand access to education and strengthen the government’s free education policy.
He noted that the Council also reviewed Soludo’s re-election, describing his 73 per cent victory across all 21 local government areas as proof that good governance and people-oriented development drive electoral success.
The Council further approved the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework, paving the way for the 2026 budget to be presented to the State Assembly and signed before the end of the year.
Mefor added that the initiative aligns with the administration’s broader development goals, which include ongoing infrastructure projects worth ₦43.7 billion approved earlier this year for roads, power, and schools.
He reaffirmed that no new project would be awarded for political reasons, but rather based on strategic importance and community needs.
