The Ministry of Education (MoE) has successfully reviewed and updated the Education Management Information System (EMIS) indicators to enhance the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in education service delivery across the country.
The two-day stakeholder workshop, held from 17–18 December 2025 at the YOTA Skills Hub, East Legon, was organized by the Ministry’s Pre-Tertiary Directorate and Statistics, Research, Information Management (SRIM) Directorate, in collaboration with Youth Opportunity & Transformation in Africa (YOTA). The engagement brought together key stakeholders from the education and ICT sectors to strengthen data-driven decision-making.
Discussions during the workshop focused on addressing gaps in existing ICT-related data and improving EMIS to better support planning, monitoring, and policy implementation. Participants reviewed current indicators and proposed updates to more accurately capture data on ICT infrastructure, teacher digital competencies, learner access, and technology usage in schools nationwide.
Key outcomes from the workshop included agreements to integrate the revised indicators into the next school census cycle, strengthen data collection at both school and district levels, and expand overall data coverage within the education service.
The Ministry of Education reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening education data systems as a foundation for ICT-enabled teaching and learning, with the ultimate goal of improving education outcomes across Ghana.
