The Minister of Education, Science and Technology Malawi, Hon. Bright Msaka, SC, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing both financial and strategic support to ensure the timely admission of university students across the country.
Msaka made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting with a delegation from Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES), convened to discuss measures aimed at increasing student enrolment and improving the admissions process ahead of the next academic year.
The delegation, led by KUHES Vice-Chancellor Professor Mac Mallewa, followed up on earlier discussions held late last year, as the university prepares for the selection of students for the February intake.
Discussions focused on strategies to streamline the admissions process to ensure that successful candidates are enrolled without delays and can begin their studies at KUHES on schedule.
The minister said the initiative aligns with the government’s broader agenda to expand access to higher education and strengthen human capital development. He added that improving admissions efficiency is critical to ensuring more young people have opportunities to pursue tertiary education.
Msaka noted that the efforts support the vision of President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s administration to increase the number of highly skilled graduates capable of competing globally and contributing meaningfully to Malawi’s socio-economic development.
