The Deputy Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Hon. Angeline Gata, has joined education officials across the country in a nationwide School Preparedness Supervision and Monitoring programme following the reopening of schools.
Hon. Gata began her assessment tour in Kadoma, within Sanyati District, where she visited Kuredza Primary School. There, she evaluated key areas including teachers’ scheming and lesson planning, staff attendance, availability and use of syllabi, school enrolment levels, fees and payment systems, as well as overall teaching and supervision processes.
She expressed satisfaction with the school’s effective lesson planning, strong teacher supervision and a range of school-based projects, notably farming, woodwork and the school orchard. The Deputy Minister encouraged schools to fully implement the School Feeding Scheme and emphasised the importance of acknowledging partners and donors who provide critical support and equipment to learning institutions.
The monitoring exercise continued in Kwekwe District, where Hon. Gata visited Russell Primary School, along with Globe and Phoenix Primary Schools. During these visits, she engaged with teachers and school administrators on challenges and progress recorded since the start of the term.
Her programme concluded in Gweru District with visits to Chaplin High School and Budiriro B Primary School in Mkoba. Addressing school heads, the Deputy Minister urged them to intensify efforts towards improving learner performance in 2026, in line with the goals of the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).
The nationwide monitoring exercise is aimed at ensuring schools are adequately prepared to deliver quality education and to reinforce accountability across the education system.
