The management of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, has disclosed that no fewer than 15 female students have been expelled over their involvement in sex video offences, as the institution reiterated its zero tolerance for indiscipline.
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Bode Ayorinde, made this known on Friday during the university’s matriculation ceremony, where 936 newly admitted students took the matriculation oath.
Ayorinde warned the fresh students against engaging in acts capable of jeopardising their studentship, stressing that the university would not hesitate to dismiss any student found culpable of misconduct.
“You put your phone before you and you’re dancing naked, and you put Achievers University there, I will dismiss you. Use social media for positive things,” he said.
He revealed that some of the dismissed students were close to graduation, adding that one student was expelled after allegedly making statements perceived as sympathetic to Boko Haram.
“One of them, who would have graduated, was caught threatening that if Boko Haram came to Achievers University, he would deal with them. We refunded his N2.3m and dismissed him,” Ayorinde stated.
The pro-chancellor, who is also the founder of the institution, said the university had also dismissed students for other offences, including drug abuse, examination fraud and non-payment of school fees.
He recalled that in 2025, 17 students were expelled for attempting to fraudulently obtain examination clearance without paying their fees, while three others were dismissed for dealing in hard drugs.
Ayorinde urged students not to suffer in silence but to report any form of drug abuse, bullying or sexual molestation, noting that such acts attract outright dismissal.
“Use the money you’re paying here well, not to be doing sex videos or taking drugs. If you want to be a graduate and rule the world, you won’t go into such acts. Women are not meant for entertainment; they can rule the world,” he said.
He also blamed some parents and guardians for encouraging indiscipline by indulging their children and wards, urging them to consistently remind students of the need to be serious with their studies.
In his remarks, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Amos Aremu, said Achievers University places high priority on discipline, academic integrity and quality assurance.
Aremu told the matriculating students that their admission was not just an entry into higher education, but an opportunity for self-discovery, intellectual development and meaningful contribution to society.
