The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, has dismissed four senior officials of the institution over alleged gross misconduct, in a move aimed at strengthening
accountability and institutional discipline.
Those affected are the Registrar, Alhaji Umar Bello; the College Librarian, Yusuf Aliyu; the Director of Works and Services, Muhammad Malam; and Ibrahim Shehu, an internal member of the Governing Council representing the Non-Teaching Staff Congregation.
The decision was taken at the council’s 7th meeting held on January 31, 2026, at the headquarters of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) in Abuja.
In a press statement signed on Tuesday by the Acting Director of Public Relations and Protocol, Dahiru Gurama, the council said the dismissals followed earlier suspensions of the officers and were based on the findings and recommendations of investigative panels.
According to the statement, both a fact-finding committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Education and the Governing Council’s Investigative Committee indicted the officers on various counts of gross misconduct.
“The dismissals followed earlier suspensions and were based on the findings and recommendations of the investigative committees, which indicted the officers on different acts of gross misconduct,” the statement said.
The council noted that the action was taken in line with extant regulations governing federal tertiary institutions and underscored its resolve to uphold transparency, due process and good governance in the administration of the college.
To ensure administrative continuity, the council also approved the appointment of Mallam Haruna N. Ayuba, the most senior Deputy Registrar, as Acting Registrar of the institution.
Reacting to the development, the College Provost, Prof. Ali Adamu, reaffirmed the management’s commitment to institutional integrity, discipline and accountability, stressing that the college would continue to operate in strict compliance with federal guidelines and ethical standards.
He added that the management remained focused on stabilising the institution and maintaining an environment conducive to effective teaching, learning and administration.
