Dr. Idowu Akinrosoye has emerged as the Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (FICT), Osun State Polytechnic (OSPOLY), Iree.
Akinrosoye, a seasoned mass communication scholar and media professional, previously served as the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, where he earned widespread recognition for his commitment to academic excellence, mentorship, and institutional development.
His emergence as Dean has been welcomed by students, alumni, and members of the Polytechnic community, many of whom describe him as a transformational leader who played a pivotal role in repositioning the Department of Mass Communication.
Born on December 30, 1970, Dr. Akinrosoye hails from Omo-Ijesa in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun State. He began his educational journey at Ado Odo High School before proceeding to Ogun State Polytechnic, Abeokuta, where he graduated as the overall best student in the Department of Mass Communication in both the National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes.
He further obtained multiple postgraduate degrees, including a Master’s in Managerial Psychology and a Master’s in Communication Arts from the University of Ibadan, as well as a Master’s in Mass Communication from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication from Crescent University, Abeokuta and also highest degree which is Ph.D.
Before joining Osun State Polytechnic in 2005, Akinrosoye built an impressive journalism career, working with AM Newspaper, The News Magazine, Tempo Magazine, and as a correspondent covering developments across Oyo, Osun, and Ogun states. He later served as Executive Officer, Public Relations, at Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke.
Within OSPOLY, he has held several strategic positions, including Acting Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Coordinator of the Daily Part-Time Programme, and Public Relations Officer of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), OSPOLY chapter. He has also served on several editorial and conference committees of the institution.
A member of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), and the Association of Communication Scholars and Professionals of Nigeria (ACSPN), Dr. Akinrosoye is widely respected for his scholarly contributions through journal publications, conference papers, and academic books.
His appointment as Dean is expected to further strengthen the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology through academic innovation, research, and quality leadership.
