The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure re-election in the 2027 presidential election, attributing his optimism to what he described as the administration’s economic performance and far-reaching reforms.
Speaking during an interview, Alausa said the Tinubu administration had remained faithful to its campaign promises by implementing bold economic reforms that are beginning to produce measurable results while laying the foundation for sustainable and inclusive growth.
According to the minister, Nigeria’s economic progress is now being reflected in credible data and independent assessments rather than political rhetoric. He cited reports by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank, Bloomberg and the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) as evidence that the country’s economic reforms are strengthening investor confidence and improving macroeconomic performance.
He noted that key economic indicators, including inflation and economic activity, are showing signs of improvement, adding that the administration remains focused on ensuring that the gains of the reforms are sustainable.
“The President is focused on building a stronger Nigeria for generations to come. These reforms are not designed for short-term gains but to create lasting prosperity. There is no value in making difficult decisions if they cannot stand the test of time,” Alausa said.
The minister added that the administration’s commitment to fiscal discipline, structural reforms and long-term economic stability is already yielding positive outcomes across various sectors of the economy, positioning Nigeria for increased productivity, inclusive growth and national development.
Reaffirming his confidence in the President’s leadership, Alausa maintained that as Nigerians continue to witness improvements in economic indicators and experience the impact of the ongoing reforms, Tinubu’s performance would provide the strongest justification for seeking another mandate in 2027.
He also reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to implementing policies aimed at strengthening the economy, improving citizens’ welfare and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda.
