Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) has announced the receipt of ₦83,032,300.00 as the fifth batch disbursement of student loans from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
In an acknowledgement letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sunday O. Elom, the university confirmed that the disbursement, received on September 11, 2025, will provide loan support for 427 students under the Federal Government’s student loan programme.
> “I hereby confirm that our University received payment for 427 students amounting to a total of ₦83,032,300.00 (Eighty Three Million, Thirty Two Thousand, Three Hundred Naira only) as 5th batch disbursement under the Students Loan Programme,” Prof. Elom stated.
This latest tranche follows previous disbursements, including the fourth batch of over ₦158 million received in August for 809 students, bringing the total number of AE-FUNAI beneficiaries to more than 1,200 students within two months.
The Federal Government’s student loan scheme, administered by NELFUND, is aimed at expanding access to higher education by easing financial challenges faced by undergraduates across the country.
Prof. Elom reiterated the university’s commitment to transparency in managing the funds, assuring that the loans will be effectively deployed to support the academic pursuits of the beneficiaries.
Education stakeholders have hailed the disbursement as a positive step in sustaining the Federal Government’s vision of making tertiary education more affordable and inclusive for Nigerian youths.
