A Heart That Stays

If God gave you nothing, would you still want Him?
The heart is one of the most delicate organs in the body, and God is deeply interested in it. More than our words, our actions, or even our requests, God is concerned with the posture of our hearts, the why behind everything we do. The posture of the heart is more than a position; it is the attitude and intention we carry within. The right heart posture is the conscious and consistent effort to align our hearts with God’s will, not just in moments of need, but at all times.

Many of us, if we are honest, have approached God transactionally. We come with requests, expectations, and silent timelines, hoping for favorable outcomes. But a relationship built only on what we can receive is not a genuine one. It mirrors the kind of connection we would question in our human relationships, where someone only shows up when they need something. God cannot be used. We must outgrow the mindset that seeks Him only for provision and withdraws when expectations are unmet. Spiritual maturity calls us higher; it calls us into relationships, not transactions.

True growth begins when we start asking deeper questions: Why do I want what I’m asking for? Is it rooted in self-fulfillment, or is it for the glory of God? Because while God hears our requests, He searches our hearts. The truth is, the heart can be trained. Just as knowledge is learned, the heart can be conditioned, taught to let go of old patterns and embrace new ones. And that conditioning begins with honesty before God.
When the heart is rightly aligned, it begins to produce what truly matters: faith, gratitude, genuineness, and steadfastness. It learns to trust God not only for what He can do, but for who He is. This is where faith is tested, not in abundance, but in waiting. Not when answers are clear, but when heaven seems silent. And in those moments, the question remains: Will I still trust Him? Will I still stay?
Let your relationship with God be built on something deeper than need. Let it be rooted in unwavering service that says, even if things do not go as I hoped, You are still my God, and I will worship You wholeheartedly. For when you seek God first, your desires begin to align with His will, and what you ask for is no longer separate from His purpose. In that alignment, you will find that He provides, fully, faithfully, and often beyond expectation.

God is the custodian of the heart. He examines it, not just to respond to what we ask, but to understand why we ask, and to see if we trust Him enough to believe, even in the face of uncertainty. So condition your heart in every season. Let your faith be steady, not conditional. Let your devotion be rooted, not reactive.

Because He is not a man that He should lie, nor does He forget His promises. And whether in abundance or in waiting, one truth remains:

He is still God, and He is enough.
