🔍 About the MEXT Scholarship
The MEXT (Monbukagakusho) Scholarship is funded by the Japanese government to support academically outstanding international students. At the University of Tokyo, students are recommended by their respective graduate schools before being nominated to MEXT.

✅ Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, applicants must:
Be international students from countries with diplomatic relations with Japan
Have a minimum GPA of 2.30/3.00 in their most recent academic program
Be born on or after April 2, 1990
Apply to a program related to their previous field of study
Meet English or Japanese language proficiency standards
Be physically and mentally fit to pursue studies in Japan
Be able to arrive in Japan within 2 weeks of the program start date (usually October 2025)

Master’s Program: October 2025 – September 2027 (2 years)
Doctoral Program: October 2025 – September 2028 (3 years)

1. Application Form

4. Transcripts (undergraduate and/or graduate)
5. Passport-sized photo (taken within 6 months)
6. Proof of language ability (TOEFL, IELTS, JLPT, etc.)
7. Abstract of graduation thesis
8. Certificate of (expected) graduation
9. Copy of passport photo page
