Are you a passionate young environmentalist from a developing country with the ambition to become a leader in the field? The Joke Waller-Hunter (JWH) Initiative is calling for nominations for its 2025 grant program, designed to support leadership development in the environmental sector.
🔍 About the Grant
The JWH Initiative provides small grants ranging from €1,500 to €7,000 to young professionals actively engaged in environmental and sustainability causes. These grants are not for project implementation or salaries, but are tailored to fund individual learning and leadership development plans — such as attending courses, conferences, training, or internships.
👥 Who Can Apply?
Ideal candidates:
Are under 35 years old (preference given)
Are passionate, creative, and committed to climate justice, sustainability, and gender equality
Are linked to community-based organizations or civil society groups working on environmental issues
Live and work in a developing country or emerging economy
🌍 Note: Applicants from developed countries (e.g., USA, UK, Canada, EU nations, Australia, etc.) are not eligible.
📝 Application Requirements
Each nomination must include:
A completed nomination form (available via the official JWH Initiative site)
Two references
A recent CV
A recent digital passport photo
⏳ Only successful applicants will be notified, typically within six weeks of the deadline.
🌐 Languages Accepted
English (preferred)
Spanish, French, and Portuguese also accepted
Incomplete or improperly filled forms will not be considered.
📌 Important Reminders
Grants cannot be used for project development or indirect administrative costs.
The decision of the JWH Initiative selection panel is final and not open to appeal.
