The South African National Space Agency (SANSA) invites applications for its 2026 Postgraduate Bursaries. This bursary program supports South African students pursuing Master’s or Doctoral degrees in fields related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), helping the nation develop highly skilled graduates in key research and innovation sectors.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
Be South African citizens
Be 32 years old or younger
Be registered or planning to register for Master’s or PhD programs in a SANSA-approved STEM field
Have a minimum academic average of 65% in their most recent studies
Not be currently funded for the same program by SANSA or another bursary scheme
Required Documents
Full official academic record (from 1st year to final year/mid-2025 results)
ID copy, certified within 3 months
Official proof of undergraduate funding (e.g., NSFAS or university financial statement)
2-page research proposal (Master’s applicants)
4-page research proposal (PhD applicants)
Proposal must be signed and dated by the applicant and proposed supervisor
Testimonial from a lecturer or supervisor (Master’s and PhD only)
Incomplete or password-protected submissions will not be accepted.
How to Apply
Step-by-Step Process
1. Prepare all required documents (as listed above).
2. Draft your research proposal (and have it signed).
3. Ensure your documents are not encrypted or password-protected.
4. Apply online via the SANSA Postgraduate Bursary Application Portal.
5. Submit the completed application before September 30, 2025.
Important Notes
Only STEM fields relevant to SANSA’s focus will be considered.
Applicants with less than a 65% average will not be eligible.
Late or incomplete applications will be automatically rejected.
