The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Foundation has announced the commencement of its 2024 National Essay Competition, aimed at fostering intellectual growth and encouraging a reading culture among senior secondary school students in Nigeria.
The competition offers participants the chance to compete for scholarships worth a total of N16 million, supporting the winners’ pursuit of undergraduate degrees at any Nigerian university of their choice.
Benefits:
The 2024 UBA National Essay Competition offers substantial financial rewards for the top three winners. The first-place winner will receive a scholarship grant of ₦7.5 million, the second-place winner will be awarded ₦5 million, and the third-place winner will take home ₦3.5 million. These grants are intended to cover the recipients’ university tuition and other educational expenses, reinforcing UBA’s commitment to educational development in Africa.
Eligibility:
To participate, applicants must be Nigerian senior secondary school students. In addition to meeting this basic requirement, students must submit a passport photograph and a scanned copy of a valid form of identification, such as a birth certificate or national ID card. Entrants are also required to prepare and submit a handwritten essay on the topic *”The Impact of Carbon Emission on Climate Change in Nigeria: Discuss the Challenges and Proffer Solutions.”* The essay should not exceed 750 words.
