Against the backdrop of increasing cases of corruption globally, the Babcock University Bursar, Dr. Folorunso Akande has made a strong case for faithful stewardship in his newly published book, Accounting & Finance, A Biblical Perspective.
According to him, the book was inspired by his teaching experience in his Master’s Class on Christian Financial Ethics and a capstone course on Biblical Philosophy of Finance for doctoral students.
Book reviewer, Prof. Rafiu Oyesola Salawu of Obafemi Awolowo University, described the work as a “blend of faith and finance that provides an insightful exploration of accounting and finance principles through the lens of biblical teachings.”
“This profound blend of scriptural insights makes the work a unique and powerful resource for faith-based financial practice,” he said.
“By weaving together the structural depth of the Old Testament and the relational richness of the New Testament, he creates a comprehensive and spiritually robust guide for financial professionals.”

Babcock University President/Vice Chancellor, Professor Ademola Tayo commended the author whom he described as a friend of many years for the discipline and commitment to duty and his frugality in the last nine years they have worked together. He said the bursar and other staff members have ensured that the University continues to receive a clear opinion from the external auditors despite the challenges faced in the course of his administration. Professor Tayo said he was pleased that the bursar could still squeeze time out of the stress and pressure of being a university bursar to write the book.
“I’m thankful to all for their immense support toward the realization of the book, especially my family, friends, colleagues, editors and reviewers, wonderful motivators and others who provided incredible support to bring this book to life,” said Dr. Akande.

Aside from family members, the book presentation which was held at the Veronica Adeleke School of Social Sciences auditorium attracted dignitaries including the Ogun State Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Dapo Okubadejo, President of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Professor Deji Olanrewaju, the Managing Director of NEM Insurance and the royal father of Ipoti, Olupoti of Ipoti, HRM Oba James Oladipupo among others.
