Borno State University (BOSU), Maiduguri, has confirmed the receipt of N161,968,700 from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as part of the ongoing Students Loan Programme for the 2024/2025 academic session.
In a letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babagana Gutti, and addressed to the Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND, the university acknowledged the payment as the second batch covering school fees for 2,400 students.
Prof. Gutti commended the Fund for its diligence and transparency in selecting the beneficiaries, noting that the initiative has greatly eased financial pressure on students and their families.
“The Management of Borno State University wishes to appreciate you for the due diligence and transparent process employed in the selection of the above students of our institution. We look forward to future support to our students and the disbursement of the loan to the other subsequent batches,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
The disbursement aligns with the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring access to affordable higher education for Nigerian students, while also reducing the burden of tuition fees on families.
This latest payment marks another milestone in the implementation of the Students Loan Programme, which aims to expand educational opportunities and strengthen human capital development across the country.
