The Federal Government has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays in observance of this year’s Easter celebration.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in an official statement. The dates correspond with Good Friday and Easter Monday, key moments in the Christian calendar.
In his message, Tunji-Ojo congratulated Christians across Nigeria and in the diaspora, urging them to reflect on the spiritual significance of the season. He called on citizens to embrace values such as selflessness, forgiveness, love, and patience, as exemplified by Jesus Christ.
The minister also emphasised the need for national unity and peaceful coexistence, noting that Easter serves as a reminder of the shared values that bind Nigerians together.
He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment under the leadership of Bola Tinubu to policies aimed at driving economic growth, national development, and collective prosperity.
Tunji-Ojo concluded by wishing Christians a peaceful and joyful Easter celebration.
