Babcock University has officially cleared its name following the safe return of Oladipupo Siwajuola, a JUPEB student earlier declared missing by his mother.
The institution, in a statement issued Sunday, stated that the student had left campus without authorization and was later found in Akute, Ogun State—contrary to claims of abduction or disappearance.
The university condemned what it described as “false, misleading, and sensational social media allegations” made by the student’s mother, who had accused the institution of negligence and complicity.
Babcock explained that rather than cooperate with internal protocols, the parent resorted to public accusations, further complicating efforts to locate the student.

According to Babcock, internal investigations revealed that Siwajuola had been involved in activities such as gambling and issuing threats to a roommate, which had previously raised red flags. He allegedly sold his phone and left the university premises without informing anyone.
Upon his discovery and return home, the university noted that disciplinary measures are underway to address the student’s misconduct. Babcock reiterated its commitment to student welfare but emphasized that such responsibility is not absolute when students violate rules or abscond without notice.
While expressing relief over the student’s safe return, the university warned against damaging its reputation through unverified reports. It noted that legal options may be considered against those who “malign and misrepresent” the institution.
Babcock concluded by affirming its commitment to ethical conduct, safety, and transparency, urging parents and guardians to engage responsibly with the school during sensitive incidents.
