President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a generous reward package for the victorious Super Falcons following their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title win.
In a statement released today, the President conferred the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) on all the players and members of the technical crew of the Super Falcons. This recognition comes in appreciation of their historic comeback victory against hosts Morocco in Rabat, where the Falcons triumphed 3-2 to lift the 2025 WAFCON trophy.
President Tinubu also gifted each player a fully furnished three-bedroom house and a cash prize of $100,000, while members of the technical crew are to receive $50,000 each alongside their own three-bedroom houses.
“This is a testament to the dedication, resilience, and fighting spirit our women displayed on the continental stage. You have made Nigeria proud once again,” Tinubu said.
The Super Falcons’ latest victory cements their position as the most successful team in African women’s football history. Their thrilling comeback in the final, led by standout performances from Esther Okoronkwo and Asisat Oshoala, has sparked celebrations across the country and renewed calls for greater investment in women’s football.
The presidential reward mirrors similar gestures extended to the Super Eagles in past years and is seen as a morale booster ahead of future international competitions, including the upcoming FIFA Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
