Following a violent clash between rival cult groups that disrupted both academic and administrative activities in Osun State Polytechnic, Iree (OSPOLY) on Tuesday, Management of the institution has affirmed that the institution is safe for students and members of the institution’s staff.
Assuring parents and guardians of Students’ safety, the Registrar of OSPOLY, Mr. Abiodun Oloyede in a statement confirmed that there was a pandemonium in the institution on Tuesday, maintaining that peace and normalcy has been restored.
Further assuring parents that there is no cause for alarm, Mr. Oloyede assured that the Anti Cultism Squad of the Nigeria Police and other Security operatives are in strategic positions in the institution to combat any unforeseen crisis.
He said “our campus is calm, normal administrative and academic activities are in progress. Students are going on with their lectures and other academic engagements while staffers are going about their administrative duties”, Oloyede said
Nevertheless, the two students who sustained different degrees of injuries due to the cult clash have been discharged after they were treated in the school’s clinic.
Recall that Edutimes Africa earlier reported that at least three persons, including individuals suspected to be students, sustained varying degrees of injuries in the early hours of Monday following a violent cult clash at the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.
The incident, which sparked panic across the campus, was reportedly a fallout of a confrontation between two rival cult groups — the Buccaneers and the Supreme Eiye Confraternity.
