Huawei has successfully completed the DigiSchool 2024 project, a groundbreaking initiative designed to ensure equitable access to digital education for students across Morocco.
Launched in February 2024, the project aligns with Morocco’s 2022-2026 education reform roadmap, marking a significant milestone in public-private partnerships.
“The DigiSchool project emphasizes the importance of strengthening digital skills and consolidating the public-private partnership as a real lever for boosting a resilient digital ecosystem,” said David Li, Managing Director of Huawei Morocco.
The DigiSchool project is part of Huawei’s TECH4ALL digital inclusion initiative.
It focuses on equipping students and teachers with essential skills in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, virtual reality, web and app development, robotics, and coding.
Four-Phase Structure for Comprehensive Training
The initiative comprised four phases to maximize impact:
1. Teacher Training: 265 secondary school teachers from all 12 Moroccan regions received ICT training.
2. Classroom Implementation: These teachers applied their training to benefit 2,650 students.
3. Hackathons: Regional hackathons, held between May and November 2024, challenged 714 students to create ICT solutions for real-world problems.
4. Bootcamps: In December, 180 students and 60 teachers attended bootcamps in Fez, Marrakech, and Agadir to refine their skills and pitch solutions developed during hackathons.
During the final phase, participants showcased their skills to a high-level delegation, including Morocco’s Minister of National Education, Mohamed Saad Berrada, and Huawei Morocco’s Vice President, Chen Xiaolei.
Empowering Education through Technology
The success of DigiSchool 2024 highlights Morocco’s commitment to digitalizing education and addressing educational inequities. “With this strategic partnership in place, Huawei is committed to continuing to invest in training and innovation, and to supporting Morocco’s aspirations for quality and inclusive digital education,” Li emphasized.
Huawei’s TECH4ALL initiative has similar programs in Kenya, Senegal, South Africa, Chile, and China, aiming to bridge the digital divide in remote areas worldwide.
