The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed reports circulating online alleging that the Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano is not in use, describing such claims as misleading.
In a statement issued on April 1, 2026, the Ministry clarified that the facility is fully operational under its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET II – IDEAS) Programme, where Nigerian youths are currently undergoing training.
According to the Ministry, about 300 trainees have been enrolled at the centre since November 2025, receiving hands-on instruction in Leather Works, Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Installation, and Hospitality.
It further disclosed that the centre has received the necessary funding tranches to support programme implementation, while participants also benefit from monthly stipends throughout their training period.
To verify the situation following the viral reports, a delegation mandated by the 8th National Council on Skills visited the facility on March 30, 2026. The team confirmed that all trainees were actively engaged and that training activities were progressing as scheduled.
The Ministry also revealed that Africa’s leading industrialist, Aliko Dangote, has committed to managing the centre for a period of 20 years, with plans to further expand its capacity.
Reaffirming its commitment to skills development, the Ministry urged the public to disregard misinformation and rely on verified official sources, noting that the government remains focused on strengthening technical and vocational education through modern training centres across the country.
