The Federal Government has formally inaugurated the principal officers of newly established federal tertiary institutions, as well as the leadership of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE), in a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s higher education system.
The inauguration, performed by the Honourable Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, took place at the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja. Leadership appointments include heads of the Federal University of Science and Technology Epe in Epe and the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Alausa emphasized that the appointments demonstrate the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality tertiary education, enhancing teacher training, and positioning Nigerian institutions as hubs of innovation and research.
“The establishment of these institutions is a strategic effort to address both national and global challenges, including food security, climate change, renewable energy, and technological innovation,” Dr. Alausa said.
The Minister also tasked the NCCE leadership with strengthening governance in colleges of education and ensuring high academic standards in teacher education across the country.
The Federal Ministry of Education reaffirmed its dedication to improving institutional leadership, governance frameworks, and policies that enhance the quality and global competitiveness of Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
