The Federal Government has announced the reopening of all 47 previously closed Federal Unity Secondary Schools across the country, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the safety of students and the continuity of education nationwide.
In a press release issued by the Federal Ministry of Education on Tuesday, the government disclosed that academic activities have fully resumed in the affected Unity Colleges following the strengthening of security architecture within and around the school premises.
According to the ministry, students have returned safely to their campuses, with many currently rounding off their December academic programmes, while others have successfully concluded their examinations.
“The safety, welfare, and well-being of students remain a top priority for the Federal Government,” the ministry stated, adding that it is working closely with relevant security agencies to sustain stability and restore normalcy in school environments across the nation.
The government further reiterated its resolve to protect every Nigerian child and uphold their fundamental right to education in a safe and secure environment. It stressed that education remains a critical pillar of human capital development and national growth.
The reopening of the Unity Colleges, the ministry noted, underscores the administration’s determination to prevent disruptions to the academic calendar despite prevailing security challenges in parts of the country.
“The safe return of students and the successful conduct of examinations in several Unity Colleges highlight the government’s commitment to keeping learning on track,” the statement added.
The Federal Ministry of Education also expressed appreciation to parents, guardians, school administrators, and students for their patience, cooperation, and support during the period of closure.
Signed by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the statement reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to sustaining a secure, stable, and uninterrupted education system across Nigeria.
