Programme Details
The Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Ecology, in collaboration with the JTH Forestry Research Center, invites applications for a Master of Science (MSc) position.
The research focuses on the social dimensions of post-wildfire reforestation in the southwestern United States. Successful candidates will examine how land managers and local communities participate in and perceive reforestation projects, and assess the social outcomes of these restoration efforts.
This position is partially funded through the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Transformation Network, which explores the relationship between wildfires, watersheds, and sustainable recovery.
The preferred start date is January 2026, though alternative dates up to August 2026 may be considered.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Hold an undergraduate degree in natural or social sciences or a related discipline.
Have experience working with communities or stakeholders on natural resource management issues in the United States.
Possess strong written and oral communication abilities.
Demonstrate independence, time management, and organizational skills.
Experience or familiarity with forest management or wildfire studies will be an advantage.
