Professor Mojisola Udoh has been appointed as the Acting Dean, School of Basic Clinical Sciences, Federal University of Technology FUTA.
Professor Udoh is a distinguished academic, clinician, and leader in the field of Anatomic Pathology, with specialized expertise in Neuropathology and Gastrointestinal Pathology.
A Professor at the University of Benin and an Honorary Consultant at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, she embodies a powerful synergy of advanced clinical service, rigorous academic teaching, and impactful research.
Her academic journey, anchored by an MBBS from the prestigious College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, and fellowships from the West African College of Physicians and the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, has been marked by a commitment to excellence. This foundation was further strengthened by specialized training at institutions such as University College London and continuous professional development through numerous international workshops and conferences.
Professor Udoh’s career is characterized by significant leadership and service. She has served as the Head of the Department of Pathology, Postgraduate Coordinator, and leads the Neuropathology Unit. Her administrative acumen is matched by her dedication to the broader medical community, evidenced by her role as General Secretary of the College of Nigerian Pathologists (Edo/Delta Chapter) and her service as an examiner for national postgraduate medical colleges and external universities.
As an educator, she has mentored a generation of medical students and supervised postgraduate scholars, guiding research in cutting-edge areas such as molecular oncology and infectious disease pathology. Her teaching portfolio encompasses the full spectrum of pathology, from general principles to advanced systemic and practical applications in autopsy and surgical pathology.
A prolific researcher, Professor Udoh has authored over 30 scholarly publications in local, national, and international peer-reviewed journals. Her research output provides critical insights into the histomorphology of intracranial and gastrointestinal tumours, autopsy practices, and disease patterns in Nigeria, contributing valuable data to the global medical literature. She is an active member of several prestigious professional societies, including the International Academy of Pathology (IAP) and the International Society on Neuropathology (ISN), reflecting her engagement with the international scientific community.
