The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) has once again affirmed its position as a leading hub of academic and scientific excellence, with numerous staff and alumni earning recognition among the world’s top 2% scientists, according to the prestigious ranking by Stanford University, USA, and Elsevier.
A recent snapshot from Scopus in August 2025 reveals that FUTA’s researchers have made remarkable contributions both over their careers and in single-year impact metrics.
In the Career-Long Impact Category, Professor Ganiyu Oboh leads the pack, ranking 21,804 globally. He is followed by Professor Kolade M. Owolabi (64,594), Dr. Isaac L. Animasaun (105,973), and Professors Kenneth K. Alaneme (135,035) and Esther Akinlabi (146,175).
Other notable names include Professors Adeniyi S. Adefegha, Peter A. Olubambi, Oyedapo A. Fagbenro, Temitope R. Ayodele, Adedayo Oluwaseun Ademiluyi, and Valentine A. Aletor, highlighting the depth and diversity of FUTA’s research excellence.
Equally impressive are the results in the Single-Year Impact Category, where FUTA scholars continue to demonstrate outstanding contributions to their respective fields. Professor Ganiyu Oboh again tops the list with a global ranking of 15,083, followed closely by Professor Kolade M. Owolabi (22,075) and Professor Esther Akinlabi (28,416). Other distinguished researchers making the list include Dr. Moshood Onifade, Dr. Isaac Animasaun, Professors Kenneth Alaneme, Adeniyi Adefegha, and Peter Olubambi, among many others.
