Ghana’s Minister of Education,Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum has announced that Basic and Senior High Schools will soon incorporate lessons on “Growth Mindset” into their new curriculum.
He explained that this initiative aims to foster transformative thinking, helping students become proactive problem-solvers and agents of change.
Speaking at the fourth session of the 16th congregation of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), Dr. Adutwum emphasized that Ghana’s future transformation relies on an educational model that nurtures creativity and responsibility. He highlighted recent governmental reforms to make education more accessible, relevant, and impactful for national development.
During the congregation, UPSA awarded postgraduate degrees to 906 students from its School of Graduate Studies, bringing the total number of graduates across four sessions to 5,247, including undergraduates and diploma holders. Professor Abednego F.O. Amartey, the university’s Vice-Chancellor, urged the graduates to uphold professionalism and represent the university with integrity.
Reflecting on his tenure, Professor Amartey, who will complete his second term in December 2024, celebrated UPSA’s growth, from expanded student enrollment and new academic programs to improved global rankings. He also noted the institution’s infrastructure developments, including high-rise hostels, lecture halls, and a 3,400-seat auditorium.
The Minister encouraged graduates to lead change in their communities, reminding them that the nation’s progress begins with their efforts.
