The Gombe State Government has approved N661.6 million to cover Senior Secondary Certificate Examination fees for over 23,000 students across the state.
State Commissioner for Education, Dr Aishatu Maigari, said the beneficiaries were selected from a mock exam of 26,857 candidates, with 88% scoring 50% and above.
The support covers WAEC, NABTEB, and NBAIS candidates, including students with special needs and those on exchange programmes, reflecting the administration’s inclusive approach.
The funding, shared 60–40 between the state and local governments, is part of Governor Muhammadu Yahaya’s strategy to remove financial barriers to education, improve academic performance, and position Gombe as a leading learning hub in the North-East.
