The Governor of Ondo State Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa has endorsed the forthcoming Colloquium of Tertiary Institutions in Ondo State describing it as an idea whose time has come with huge potential to contribute to the development of education in the State in line with the vision of his administration.
Dr. Aiyedatiwa gave the endorsement on Tuesday May 20 2025 when the Chairman of the planning committee Professor Tomola Obamuyi of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) led other members on a working Visit to the Governor.
Governor Aiyedatiwa while accepting to play the role of the Chief host of the event scheduled for June 3, 2025 at the FUTA said, “education is one of the major focus of our administration and we will continue to support it in all ways we can. The colloquium aligns with our administration’s vision of improving on the status of Ondo State has an key player in the sector through qualitative improvement in all areas and levels of education. We will support the endeavor and be well represented. We are sure that the outcome will help in the advancement of education in Ondo State and Nigeria. ”
Speaking earlier the Chairman said the colloquium is the initiative of FUTA Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji with all tertiary institutions in Ondo State as joint partners. He said the one-day colloquium with the theme ,”Fostering Collaboration and Innovation for Sustainable Development in Nigeria, will Create Synergy for Development, Promote partnership and collaboration between academic institutions, government, development partners and relevant stakeholders to improve town and grown relationship.”
Obamuyi said it would also “Enhance Research and Innovation, Promote research initiatives and partnership that address both local and global challenges and Propose implementable innovative ideas to address economic, environmental and other societal challenges,
and Devise strategy to enhance the employability and entrepreneurial abilities of products of participating institutions.”
He said a former Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan , Professor Olufemi Bamiro and the Deputy Managing Director of UBA, Mr Muyiwa Akinyemi will give keynote addresses to deepen town and gown engagement at the colloquium.
