Hope Channel International has strengthened its collaboration with Babcock University as preparations intensify for the “Arise in Hope” mega satellite evangelistic campaign and the global “Reach 1 Billion by 2030” initiative of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

A delegation from Hope Channel International visited the university to solidify plans for the ambitious outreach, which aims to expand the church’s global impact through media and technology.
The institution’s President/Vice Chancellor, Afolarin Ojewole, represented by Senior Vice President (Academics), Jonathan Nwosu, welcomed the team alongside other top officials, expressing optimism about the partnership.
Speaking during the visit, Sam Neves, Vice President of Hope Channel International and Associate Communication Director at the General Conference, emphasized the urgency of the mission.
“Our goal is to reach one billion people by 2030,” he said, noting that Nigeria’s large population makes it critical to adopt emerging technologies capable of reaching underserved and restricted regions beyond traditional media.

Leading the delegation, Ezekiel Adeleye, Pro-Chancellor of Babcock University and President of the Western Nigeria Union Mission, reiterated support for the collaboration.
Other members of the delegation included Abraham Bakri, John Alabi, U.S.-based Bible workers Joseph Somers and Veronica Somers, as well as George Egwakhe.
Discussions during the visit centred on preparations for the upcoming mega media evangelism programme scheduled for April 26 to May 9, 2026, at the Indoor Sports Complex of the University of Lagos.
The event is projected to be one of the largest outreach efforts in recent years and will feature key speakers, including Paul Douglas, Prof. Ojewole, and Chidi Ngwaba, a UK-based physician known for his work in reversing chronic diseases through lifestyle and plant-based nutrition.
Babcock University, regarded as the Seventh-day Adventist institution with the largest student population globally, is expected to play a strategic role in advancing the church’s global evangelism and health mission.
