Take the average age of Learners in your class and you will find that the mean ages of your learners are between 1997 and 2012. Those born at this year’s interval are called GenZ. The GenZ, is growing up in a world that’s vastly different from any previous generation. They’re digital natives, surrounded by smartphones, social media, and instant access to information. The world around them is rapidly changing, with technological advancements, shifting social norms, and evolving economic landscapes. As a result, their learning mindset is shifting too. They’re looking for learning experiences that are relevant, interactive, and applicable to their lives.
This shift in learning mindset requires Educators to adapt their teaching approaches to meet the needs of GenZ learners.
Here are 10 ways to teach GenZ undergrads in class
1️⃣Flip the Classroom
The teaching solely on the board and dictating notes does not work with the GenZ learners. Flip the classroom to allow them to learn at the leisure via videos you assign to them and PowerPoint slides. Use the classroom time for discussion, group work and problem solving(for Numerical courses). There is a retinue of YouTube videos that you can use for this or you create your own videos.
2️⃣Interactive Lectures: Owing to the fast paced World the GenZ lives, there minds are worked to interact, chat and play. Capture this by incorporating polls, quizzes, and discussions to break up traditional lectures.
3️⃣Real-world Examples: The GenZ is not receptive of any learning that does not connect to his/her present World. As a Teacher, you want to meet them at this stage. To do this, use current events, social media, or pop culture to illustrate complex concepts.Quantum Mechanics can be explained with cryptocurrency and crytography examples, European Literature culture can be married to the new cultureal trends, religion can find examples in Ai and machine Learning. Join connect whatever you are teaching to the present day.
4️⃣Collaborative Group Work: Encourage teamwork, peer teaching, and collaborative problem-solving.
5️⃣Gamification: Incorporate game elements, such as points, badges, or leaderboards, to increase engagement.This is the central learning strategy for these guys. Everything for them should be a game with immediate rewards.
6️⃣Multimedia Resources: Use videos, podcasts, and interactive simulations to supplement traditional texts. Meaning as a Teacher, you must know how to use the motherboard to teach.
7️⃣Frequent Feedback: Provide regular feedback, quizzes, or assessments to keep students on track.
8️⃣Flexible Seating: They will learn better if you offer flexible seating arrangements, such as standing, sitting on the desks or group tables, to promote comfort and collaboration. You need to learn new ways of classroom management to accommodate this.
9️⃣Technology and Digital tools Integration
Leverage technology, such as laptops, tablets, or smartphones, to enhance learning. Send assignments via their email handles. Use Telegram or Google classroom to drop shot videos for the class. Use Google Collab for coding lessons and simulation. You need to be a digital teacher with knowledge of several tools to integrate with the traditional means you already know.

The GenZ Undergrad is not the millennials and Baby boomers that were in an Analogy age. The GenZ plays around Technology, information and current trends, thus you must meet them halfway to capture their interest in your course and lessons.
