The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has completed all accreditation, validation and security checks ahead of the registration for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
At an expanded management meeting held late last week, the Board assured the public that the 2026 registration exercise will be secure, well-coordinated and difficult to manipulate.
JAMB said it deliberately took enough time to put strong measures in place to block loopholes and quickly deal with any form of irregularities.
According to the Board, lessons learnt from the review of the 2025 UTME registration and examination process helped shape improved technological and operational strategies for 2026.
JAMB warned individuals and groups planning to engage in registration or examination malpractice to keep away from the process, stressing that offenders will be prosecuted. The 2026 UTME registration is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026.
The Board revealed that more than 30 suspected registration and examination offenders are currently facing prosecution, with about 20 already in correctional centres.
It added that arrests can take place during or even long after the examination, as investigations are continuous.
Members of the public were advised to avoid involvement in JAMB processes unless they are properly registered candidates or officially accredited stakeholders.
JAMB also assured candidates that application documents for the 2026 UTME will be released early in 2026, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, efficiency and the integrity of Nigeria’s examination system
