The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned candidates intending to register for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) to verify their National Identification Number (NIN) details before creating their JAMB profiles.
The Board said the warning is necessary to prevent candidates from creating profiles with incorrect NIN information, a situation that could lead to serious challenges during registration and the examination process.
JAMB disclosed that it has concluded preparations to commence the 2026 UTME and DE registration, noting that the exercise could begin at any time.
According to the examination body, candidates are advised to use this period to carefully confirm that their personal details are accurate and consistent across all relevant databases.
The Board also cautioned that opportunities for correcting candidates’ data are becoming increasingly limited due to frequent abuses associated with correction windows.
It therefore urged candidates to take full responsibility for the accuracy of their information from the outset, stressing that requests for corrections may not always be entertained.
JAMB expressed confidence that adherence to these guidelines would ensure a smooth, transparent, and hitch-free 2026 UTME and DE registration exercise.
