The Honourable Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, has reaffirmed the federal government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive and equitable education, with a strong emphasis on empowering the girl child.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Quality Education and Girl-Child Initiatives, she highlighted the crucial role of education in national progress and sustainable development.
Professor Ahmad emphasized that investing in girl-child education is a fundamental strategy for fostering innovation and equipping young people with essential skills for the future.
She underscored the importance of initiatives like the Luminah Girl-Child Initiative, which aim to bridge the education gap and provide young girls with opportunities to thrive in an evolving world.
According to her, a future-ready education system must prioritize the empowerment of educators, ensuring they deliver high-quality, forward-thinking instruction that prepares students—especially girls—for the demands of the 21st century.
“An education system that illuminates pathways for the girl-child and women is key to national development,” she stated.
Professor Ahmad also presented a comprehensive analysis of the state of quality education and girl-child education in Nigeria, addressing key challenges and proposing strategies for improvement.
She called for collective action among stakeholders to drive lasting educational reforms that prioritize access, equity, and innovation.
At the conclusion of the event, appointment letters were presented to committee members tasked with implementing these transformative initiatives, marking a new phase in the government’s efforts to enhance educational outcomes nationwide.
